Frequently Asked Questions

At American Flagpole Experts, we provide premium, American-made flagpoles, flags, and accessories built for lasting strength and reliability. Whether for homes, businesses, or large-scale projects, we’re here to help your flag fly higher.

The cost of a flagpole depends on several key features:

  • Material (aluminum)
  • Height
  • Butt diameter (base width)
  • Wall thickness
  • Finish (satin aluminum, anodized, or powder-coated)
  • Halyard system (internal or external)
  • Installation type (ground-set, shoe base, or wall mount)

Yes. Over 95% of the raw materials used in manufacturing are sourced from the United States, and all flagpoles are fabricated and assembled in our partner U.S. facilities. Some specialty hardware and finishes may come from North American suppliers, but every pole is substantially manufactured in America.

American Flagpole Experts provides residential and commercial aluminum flagpoles ranging from 15 ft. to 100 ft in height.

*Aluminum is lightweight, highly durable, rust- and corrosion-resistant, and requires minimal maintenance compared to steel or wood. We offer a wide range of finishes, including satin, anodized (clear, black, dark bronze), and powder coat (black, bronze, white).

  • 15'–25' poles: typically one section
  • 30'–35' poles: one or two sections
  • 40'–45' poles: two sections
  • 50' and taller: three to five sections

Flagpoles are measured by their above-ground height. Ground-set poles include an additional buried length below grade.

Generally, 10% of the pole’s above-ground height is installed underground. For example, a 20' pole is actually 22' long, with 2' below ground.

Yes. Each flagpole package includes all necessary hardware and a ground sleeve. Installers will need to provide concrete, sand, or wood wedges for the foundation.

Not always. A flash collar is primarily aesthetic, covering the ground sleeve or anchor bolts. It is recommended for concrete pad installations, but optional in grass, rock, or landscaped areas.

Yes. Sealing the top 2" of the sleeve prevents water intrusion. Moisture in the sand base can cause the pole to lean or shift.

Allow approximately 24 hours per yard of concrete before setting the flagpole.

  • Example: If your project requires 2 yards of concrete, allow about 48 hours of curing time.
  • Example: For a small residential 20 ft. pole that typically uses 1 yard of concrete, 24 hours is sufficient.

Spacing depends on both the size of the flags and the arrangement of the poles. At minimum, allow one foot more than the length of the flag between poles or nearby objects.

Moisture trapped inside the paper wrapping can cause chemical staining on satin-finish poles. If storage is required outdoors, unwrap the pole, elevate it off the ground, and protect it from direct exposure to rain or snow.

For satin finish poles, stains can be removed with warm soapy water, aluminum alloy cleaners, ox-out, or medium-grit sandpaper (always applied in the same direction as the original grain).
For painted or anodized poles, use only mild soap and water — never caustic cleaners. Always test a small area first.

  • Apply diluted liquid soap to the joints for easier sliding (avoid oils).
  • In hot weather, cool the male section with ice to contract the aluminum and ease assembly.

Yes. When flying the flag 24 hours a day, proper illumination is customary. Ground-mounted spotlights directed at the flag provide the most effective and patriotic display.
