External Flagpoles – Installation Guide

Our External Rope Halyard Flagpoles — including the Estate, Continental, and Xtreme series — are built for reliability and classic appearance. This guide covers every step from foundation to flag-raising.

Before installation, inspect your shipment carefully and store the flagpole off the ground in a dry space. Foundation preparation includes digging to recommended depth, filling with gravel and sand, and pouring 3000-PSI concrete.

Assemble the shaft sections using precision match marks and anti-seize compound on threaded parts. Install your truck assembly (stationary or revolving) at the top, attach the ball ornament, and thread the halyard over the pulley. Secure the cleat roughly 4 feet above grade for comfortable access.

When standing the flagpole, align it so the truck pulley faces the prevailing wind direction. For ground sleeves, fill the sleeve gap with tamped sand; for shoe bases, bolt the pole securely. Finish with a flash collar and weather-sealed silicone caulking for a polished result.

External halyard systems are traditional, affordable, and easy to maintain — ideal for homes, schools, and businesses.
